The Electric City

Tom Hanks as we all know and love, has been a familiar and respected actor recognised by face and voice across several generations - everything from his earlier outings in 'Splash' of 1984, to his voicing of 'Woody' in the 'Toy Story' franchise.
Now, in 2012 we are presented with twenty, five minute episodes of an animated series entitled, 'The Electric City', produced by his company Playtone and the Indian media company Reliance Entertainment.

To quote from Yahoo! Screen's blurb on the internet mini-series, it is described as thus:

"The dystopian thriller features a sci-fi vision of the future, in which a new world order controls energy, information and freedom. Tom Hanks voices the lead, and the cast also includes Jeanne Tripplehorn, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Holland Taylor."

I'm hooked. I have to be honest. Since starting the new job I invariably have to be in bed at an hour I've not experienced since I was 10 and in junior school, and as a result I need that little 'something' to help me relax - enter 'The Electric City'. The animation reminds me of something done in Flash, but it works a treat, and the irritating part about this series is, apart form each episode being only 5 minutes in length, is that you just can't help watching the next episode immediately after you've finished the previous one. I'm up to episode eleven and must exercise restraint from ploughing through all twenty.

For me, it works. So if you haven't already started viewing this great mini-series, I urge you to give it a go. Somehow I don't think you'll be disappointed, especially with Mr Hanks' easy tones as the lead.

Enjoy  :)

Do you like the new job? I'm always at my best in the mornings and prefer to go to bed early but it doesn't always work out that way.

Hey, Jojo :)

The job is just that - a job. It's currently earning me money (though being paid monthly is a pain in the butt) to pay the bills. To be honest with you though, I'd be happier working on a building site doing a nice physical 8am - 4pm, Mon - Fri, kind of job, where I come home from work knowing I've grafted, not the muppet stuff I have to do currently.

So how's the world with you? Nice to see you here ;)

Aguilar, seriously, you need to watch it - I'm sure you'll enjoy it, but might I suggest you watch it at evening. For some reason it just adds to the atmosphere for me.

Nice to see you here :)

Hi Mark,
It's been a while, I know. Summer is too beautiful in MTL (a lot of outdoor events) to be cooped up in the house, blogging or chatting ;)
RE: Electric City, I saw something about it mentioned in Yahoo. I'll check it out and let you know what I think.
Enjoy the rest of the summer!
Cheers!

I hear ya on it being just a job. I'm looking for part time work around here too! The cost of fuel makes me reluctant to take anything more than 10 miles away.
