Blog Question re: Comments

advertisers.blognotion.com

Just a quickie to all my blogofs out there:

What is the best option to use when wanting to prevent Anonymous  comments? I just don't want to do something that prevents regular commentators and other bloggers replying.

Thanks for help in advance :)

Unfortunately I can't be much help on the subject. I don't prevent anonymous comments on my blog because so far I've never had a problem with them. In fact, I don't think I've ever had an anon comment...

Hmm, unfortunately I've had quite a few and always with a spam link to some crappy site selling shite. The last thing I want to do is block genuine contributors.

Thank you for stopping by regardless, always a pleasure :)

You should be able to go under Settings in the Blogger Dashboard, then go to Posts and Comments. Where it asks you "Who can comment?" I think you can eliminate anonymous comments by selecting any other option besides "Anyone." On my blog, I have it set to Registered User. That still gives a lot of comment options but eliminates anonymous.

Thank you, Anthony, much appreciate the info.

I don't mind anon comments if they're from real people. It's the spam I hate. I turned on comment moderation after 7 days and that let's me pick up all of the spam and delete it.

i took off anonymous people, they are just mostly spammers.. you will get the few that have "blogger" accounts and will tell you how good and informative your post was... then link back to spam. i will look every once in awhile to weed those out.

I'll second Anthony's suggestion. It's what I wound up doing after getting fed up with all the spam.
