For the first time since the age of 32 I now have a place I finally consider a home, and unlike previous addresses, not just a house.

My books now line the book shelves after spending the best part of 18 years in boxes, and I also have a 'man cave' once more. But more importantly, I now have the proper tools by which to start afresh: one work, and one play - as shown below:

If any are wondering, the worktop my computers sit upon is exactly just that - a kitchen worktop bought at a DIY store and cut to length. So far this worktop has been with me in three houses, this now being the third (and hopefully) and final resting place. And it's bloody heavy, too!
The house is a 'work in progress', but it is great to have a place that gives you 'I'm home', feeling. So, with luck this will focus my mind, summon up my muse once more and start me off on my creative journey once again. Something I have sorely missed of late.
Do you have a special work/play area set aside? I think it's always interesting to see where people do their 'thing' and in what surroundings.

It's great to see you finally have a place to hang your hat and call home. And what a cute picture of Darcy, I bet she loves her new home. You've also got a sweet work/play setup, looks perfect for that creative mind of yours. Hopefully though, the next step will be you, pain free, and without the need for a crutch. :)
Congrats on your new digs, dude! I feel like I need a proper workspace to get myself psyched up to write again. Just got to figure out how to make that happen. Oh, and then I have to make that happen! Gah. :-)
Agreed. Though the décor is dated, but I can live with that for a 12 month quite easily until funds become available to change it.
Still getting to grips with the Mac, as I am, at heart, a hardened PC bod through-and-through. But it's an enjoyable learning curve... so far ;)
Thanks Goth Ma :)
If you want it bad enough, it will happen - you of all people should know that ;)
Grats on the writing too!
Congrats on your new home. Super cute pup.
Congratulations on your new place. I don't really have a room of my own for my writing. Unless you count the bedroom. Which is where I'm typing from. So comfy.
I love your work/play area. Clever idea with the table! It must be such an amazing feeling to pull out those books. I don't have a designated work/play, I suppose it happens everywhere! Though if I really need to work, I go to a wifi-free cafe and that's when a great deal of it gets done.
Cheers :o) - and doesn't she know it!
Hmmm... too much temptation to have a sneaky forty winks.
When it happens, it happens... so long as you get the gist of an idea down somehow, somewhere, is probably the most important thing.
That's for sure. *yawns*
She does. So do ours.
