Flash Fiction: 'Law of Attraction.'

The glint in her eye was all he needed. Her heavy lashes batted seductively, framing the perfectly shaped iris, flecked with gold on a background of lavender. The stunning combination framed in an almond-shaped setting that took his breath away. A cascade of dark hair irritatingly hid half of her face, her head tilted forward enough to maintain the luscious veil in place.

For the briefest of moments Jack felt a total disconnect with reality and his body. That gold-flecked orb held him in its unflinching gaze. Everything else around this woman faded out of focus. She then blinked, a languid closing and opening.

Within his chest, Jack's heart thumped and lurched, as her unmistakeable gaze turned to a hard stare, the pupil of that eye, darker that the blackest of nights dilated as it locked onto him. The slightest hint of a smile touched the corner of her ruby red lips.

Jack's heart lurched within his chest.

Jack did something he'd never done in his entire life as a grown man, he turned away, breaking the hold of her stare. His breathing was shallow and gasping. What the fuck is wrong with me? Jack's mind spiralled out of control momentarily, racing to keep up with his heart. Adrenalin flooded his body.
The thumping beat of the nightclub music added to his confusion, washing over his senses in equal measure. Flashing multicoloured lights stabbed the smoke machine atmosphere of the dancefloor, where gyrating, swaying and bouncing forms kept pace with the music. The dance of lovers apparent wherever he looked.

Jack had never felt so alone, or so vulnerable before. His inner voice demanded he leave. Immediately.

"Intoxicating, isn't it." The voice wasn't so much heard as felt. Once again, Jack was thrown into unfamiliar territory as he recoiled in surprise.

"What the f..." His words died in his throat as once more he was staring directly into those beautiful gold-flecked orbs of lavender. Her face was naturally beautiful. She was without make up, her lips full and ruby red, her lashes thick and dark, her skin smooth and without blemish. Dark, and long, her hair reached past her shoulders in gentle, seductive waves. Jack felt a near-uncontrollable urge to reach out and stroke her hair.

"Uhh..." Normally confident and eloquent with his words, Jack was floundering as if riddled with dementia.

Taking Jack's hand in her own, warmth enveloped his hand in a firm, but gentle grip as she stepped close. She leaned in, her cool breath upon the exposed skin of his neck sent a shiver through him. His loins responded with a wave of pleasure and desire, his body betraying his initial urge to flee.
Almost near to Jack in height, her lips had no issue aligning with his ear as she whispered to him, "Come with me, my car is parked close by. We can be alone."

Several days later, Police viewed the security footage taken from outside the nightclub, showing Jack leaving alone, arm outstretched like a person being led by the hand, heading to the parking area. On investigation Police could find no signs of violence or a struggle, and no vehicle was seen leaving or entering the area.

Jack was never seen again.
